Problem drug use in selected groups
In 2008 the first nationwide study aimed at identifying the profile of a problem drug user was conducted.

The project was intended to survey clients of low threshold programmes i.e. the programmes which do not make abstinence the main criterion of getting help. Moreover, the very programmes for drug users were examined. They included needle and syringe exchange programmes and day care centres for active drug users. The programmes intend to reduce health and social harm among drug user. Consequently, data were collected about the group which is not the subject of population studies and does not often exist in medical records. Under the study staff of low threshold programmes conducted over 700 questionnaire interviews with all the clients of the programmes for two weeks in 2008 (November/December). Survey report is avaliable in Polish with English summary.

The study was continued in 2010 and 2012.

The survey results from 2008, 2010 and 2012 are available in National Reports (chapter "Problem/high risk drug use").
